The Ricky Martin Foundation took part in a cultural and educational event at the Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU), as part of an institutional invitation extended by JetBlue, in connection with the unveiling of the airline's new special livery design titled Isla del Bluencanto.
The invitation, initially extended to the Centro TAU community, was broadened by the Foundation to include students from Loíza and Canóvanas, leading to an exclusive, safe, and educational art workshop for youth interested in fine arts and painting.
Art, Education, and Community in Action
The workshop was led by Puerto Rican muralist Juan Ramón Gutiérrez, known as The Stencil Network, and took place at the airport facilities near the JetBlue station at SJU.
For several hours, participants shared, learned artistic techniques, created original works, and strengthened community bonds in an environment of respect, creativity, and collaboration.
JetBlue facilitated the logistics of the gathering, including food and operational support, integrating the Foundation as an active part of this cultural experience.
The artworks created during this workshop later became part of the artistic environment presented the following day during the official press conference revealing the Isla del Bluencanto aircraft at The Flight Park.
An Aircraft as a Cultural Symbol
The Isla del Bluencanto design, selected through the 'Vamo' Arriba' contest, transforms the aircraft into a flying canvas dedicated to Puerto Rico, incorporating iconic elements such as the jíbaro, native fruits and plants, and the phrase 'Yo Soy Boricua,' carrying Puerto Rican identity to international destinations.
During the press conference, the Foundation's Executive Director, Orlando Morales, participated as a guest speaker, highlighting the importance of this alliance and its community impact:
'We are not only celebrating the design that will cover an airplane; we are celebrating a living symbol of identity, resilience, and pride, that will carry the essence of our island to the skies of the world. Our relationship with JetBlue was born in difficult times and has transformed into a lasting alliance based on art, education, human rights, and commitment to our communities.'
Alliances That Elevate Opportunities
The Ricky Martin Foundation recognizes and thanks JetBlue, its president Marty St. George, its executive and corporate social responsibility team, Héctor Camacho, general manager of the San Juan Station, and all the crew members and volunteers who have served as bridges in this relationship, for believing in the power of art, community, and alliances to open opportunities and elevate dreams.
From Puerto Rico, the Foundation celebrates that Boricua talent continues to take flight and reaffirms its commitment to continue creating spaces where children, culture, and education come together to transform realities with dignity, hope, and Boricua pride.
